About me
With over 19 years of experience in public school administration, Susan Shih is a dedicated educational leader whose work centers on building strong school communities, supporting student well-being, and creating inclusive learning environments. She currently serves as Principal of Creekside Middle School in the Castro Valley Unified School District, where she leads with a strong commitment to equity, collaboration, and culturally responsive practices that honor and support the diverse backgrounds and experiences of students. Prior to this role, Susan served as Assistant Principal at Castro Valley High School and held several leadership positions in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, including Vice Principal and Student Services Coordinator at both the middle and high school levels.
Susan’s leadership is deeply shaped by her background in mental health and social services, including roles as a Psychiatric Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, and Assessment and Referral Specialist. This unique combination of experiences allows her to bring educators, families, and support systems together to create compassionate, connected, and student-centered learning environments where both students and adults can thrive.
